About Me

The Mad Hattress

I began my "art making" while raising my family in rural Pennsylvania.   I was influenced by the Brandywine School and Andrew Wyeth.  As a watercolorist my first twentyfive years of practice, I created illustrations in the style of "magical realism and storytelling."  Some of these works are published in "100 Artists of the Brandywine Valley" by Catherine Quillman.  Many of these works were adapted to textiles, posters, greeting cards and gift products in collaboration with Paul Cohen at Creatif Licensing.

Moving to Southern California in 2009, I shifted my focus to oils on canvas. This allowed me to work large and redefine my subject matter.

Taking a break from “art as product”, exploring new materials, I rediscovered the playful art of ceramics. Pottery allows me to incorporate my skills as a painter, designer, printmaker and storyteller.
